It seems fitting that my first post ever should be on New Year’s Eve – fresh starts and all – so here goes! I have been wanting to start a blog abstractly for years, and recently I finally decided to make it happen – we have to make things happen for ourselves, non? It is a bit daunting, putting myself out there, but I think with practice it will become easier and hopefully even rewarding. That said, although I am not a big New Year’s Resolutions person, I am really going to try and put into practice a few ideals for 2014 and beyond: 1) Be more mindful and present. It is easy to spend mindless time on our phones or watching TV, or wishing we lived somewhere warmer (hello Chicago winters!) and not truly enjoying the moment. I am so grateful for the friends and family I have and do not want to ever take that for granted. 2) Be open to new experiences and take more risks both professionally and personally. With these goals in mind, I think 2014 is going to be a very good year.
My hope that this little blog becomes a place for inspiration, conversation and fun. I’ll be posting my favorite home/beauty/fashion finds, personal updates and musings, fun links from the web, and more!
So, as a goodbye to 2013 before we head into the new year, here are snapshots of the past year, because it was a good one folks.
^My college roomie got married in a gorgeous ceremony at the Waldorf in Chicago^
^We went to Bloomington to celebrate my grandparents’ 75th wedding anniversary – wow!^
^We visited the Chicago Botanic Gardens for the first time – how had I never been before? I can’t wait to go back in the summer!^
^We saw Jerry Seinfeld at the Chicago Theater – HILARIOUS.^
I hope you have a very happy New Year.
