Over the Weekend

bowling

I hope you had a nice long weekend! Things were pretty action-packed over here, and I’m happy to report I did everything I wanted to do this weekend, including getting my hair done (got that ombre, its pretty subtle, but i think very pretty), bowling with my family, eating at Au Cheval, seeing ‘Her’ and getting my nails done. I loved hanging out with my family and getting out and doing some stuff! It’s easy to end up staying in hibernating a bit when the weather is so cold!

Also, shout out to Dan who scored a 199 in bowling! I got a 114 which I was pretty excited about ;)

Lone Wolf

^While we waited for our table at Au Cheval, we had a few drinks next door at a new bar called Lone Wolf. It had a cool atmosphere and they carry Three Floyds (for you beer lovers). I got a cocktail that had lemon, gin and lavender with a dollop of sorbet – delicious! Also, the fries and burgers at Au Cheval are ridiculously good. That dinner was definitely not the healthiest thing to eat before a trip to Hawaii, but so worth it.

Her

^My mom and I went to see ‘Her’ on Sunday while the guys watched Football. The acting is incredible, the movie is shot with a rosy tint that’s gorgeous, and the storyline is intriguing. In fact, the premise is so realistic we both found it kind of unsettling. I don’t want to spoil it for anyone, but I will say that Joaquin Phoenix is amazing in it. He is in every scene, usually alone (or just talking to his OS), and there are a lot of close-ups. I can’t imagine how hard it would be to emote so much and so well with no one to act off of (although, let’s be honest, Scarlett’s voice is super appealing).

EatalyEatalyEataly

^We went to Eataly for lunch today. If you live in (or plan to visit) Chicago, it’s a really great spot to grab a bite, shop and hang out. After living in Florence near the Mercato Centrale for a semester in college, I love any place that reminds me of Italy. My one tip is to try and go at off times though because it is a madhouse on the weekends and during lunch. We noticed lot of people had kind of a vacant, overwhelmed stare as they were walking around, haha.¬†Anyway, I got some fresh lemon sole as well as some gourmet looking¬†lemon and mint salt to make for dinner tonight. If it turns out well, I’ll share the deets later this week. — Ok, I actually just took a break to make dinner, and it was super delish. I’ll post recipe tomorrow!

Have a great week! xo
