Let’s Go Shopping
Yesterday the weather was ok (40 and sunny-ish), so Dan and I decided to get out and about and do some shopping. Not for me of course, but for Dan! haha. I am always really happy when he suggests this since it’s so rare he wants to treat himself (once, maybe twice a year). Coincidentally, the Saturday before St. Patrick’s Day in Chicago is when they hold the parade, die the river green and hoards of drunk people flood the streets in an unflattering sea of lime green. So off we went!
Let me back up for a moment: Friday night we went to a BYOB Thai place called Cozy Noodles & Rice in Wrigleyville before seeing my brother’s band, Jose and the Cobras, play at a nearby bar. The restaurant is super small and kitschy, delicious and so cheap! Living downtown, I forget how cheaply you can eat up north. Two apps, two entrees: $25. Jose and the Cobras were great too, but unfortunately I didn’t take any photos.
So anyway, on Saturday we walked to Salvation Army to check out their lamp selection (bust) before heading up to Michigan Avenue. The plan was to check out Nordstrom Rack since Dan had a gift card and then maybe pop in a few places. I’ve been wanting a felt hat, so I thought maybe Anthro or Forever 21 would have something. As we made our way through the throngs of people and constant sirens, behold: The Gap. I haven’t gone in there in a loooong time, but I saw a sale sign out front and they typically have good guy stuff. To my surprise, they have some very cute girl stuff right now and literally the whole bill was 40% off (no restrictions!). Plus, they have figured out the secret to turning casual shoppers into purchasers: skinny mirrors and good lighting. For those who know me, this definitely made me do a happy dance as I tried on a few things. Let’s just say we made out well.
Next, we moved on to Anthro where I found the perfect felt hat buried in the sale bin in the back of the store – mission complete! Here is the look:
It was a good weekend (I should add that Dan got everything he needed too:), so here’s to a great week ahead!
